GEMBA Modular Week in Leipzig With Finance, Logistics, and Entrepreneurship
Mid January 2016, the fourth class of the Global Executive MBA Program (GEMBA) offered by German HHL and Spanish Escuela de Alta Dirección (EADA) had its first residential week in Leipzig. The 20 students from eleven countries have more than ten years of professional experience in fields such as IT, medicine and finance. The average age of the participants is 37.
Asked German student Jennifer Becker, Portfolio Development Analyst at the drug company Grünenthal GmbH, “Already after the 2nd module week I am able to use the knowledge from lectures such as Financial Analysis and Business Model Development in my day to day interactions at work and therefore immediately connect the theory with the practice. In my opinion this is the most effective way to consolidate one’s learnings.”
Becker’s Bulgarian fellow student Shtono Kaloferov, who works as Manager for Hewlett Packard Enterprise, adds, “The topics presented during the residential week in Leipzig were highly interesting but for me personally the star of the week was the Porsche factory tour which allowed all participants to dive deep into one of the VW Group’s leading logistics schemes. The warm welcome by CFO Dr. Joachim Lamla was only topped by his vast knowledge of the business and its projection for the coming years, giving us all a real feeling of what goes on behind the curtains for one of the world’s top car manufacturer. I already look forward to the international residential week in China in April.”
The Global Executive MBA Program focuses on the peculiarities of business practices in the western European countries (with a special emphasis on Germany and Spain). In addition, participants gain insight into the economies and cultures of the Chinese, Brazilian and Indian markets.
