Dr. André Casajus and Dr. Sebastian Hoffmann have recently been appointed as research professors by HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. By taking this step, Germany’s oldest business school honors the great accomplishments of the two scientists in research and teaching. HHL Dean Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart says, “With these two scientists, who are renowned nationally and internationally, HHL will continue to raise its research profile in the fields of cooperative game theory as well as accounting regulation. Both researchers therefore sustainably contribute to the success of our innovate125 Future Concept.”
Dr. Casajus, who also holds a post-doctoral degree in economics, has worked at HHL since 2013 under the auspices of a research project sponsored by the DFG (German Research Association). Dr. Hoffmann obtained his post-doctoral degree at HHL in 2014 and was appointed to the Professorship for Finance and Accounting at the University of Bremen. In summer 2015, he assumed a position as a lecturer in Accounting at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. The newly appointed research professors stated that they would like to further strengthen the visibility of HHL’s research network and Leipzig as a science location.
HHL Dean Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart comments, “The Senate unanimously decided to appoint Dr. habil. André Casajus and Dr. habil. Sebastian Hoffmann as research professors. In doing so, HHL emphasizes its research strategy geared towards rigor and relevance.”
Prof. Dr. André Casajus (left) works at the Chair of Economics and Information Systems at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. He has also held a position as an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management Science at the University of Leipzig since 2007. The key topic of research for the scientist sponsored by the DFG is cooperative game theory. The 2014 Business Administration Ranking published by business journal Handelsblatt awarded Prof. Dr. André Casajus 49th place (“Best Research Performance”) and 94th place (“Lifetime Achievement”) respectively.
Prof. Dr. Sebastian Hoffmann is a lecturer of Accounting at University of Edinburgh and Director of the M.Sc. in Accounting & Finance at the university’s Business School. He has also held a position as Adjunct Full Professor of Accounting at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management where he not only obtained his degree in Business Administration and Corporate Governance but also his doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. His research work in the field of accounting regulation focuses on the origin, application and implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as historical questions of accounting and auditing.
