HHL’s event series, covering six major conferences and many smaller events in 2016, is designed to increase awareness for the opportunities of digitalization in education, science and business practice and to discuss the new requirements of corporate leadership with decision-makers from the economy. HHL is simultaneously working on new methods of teaching and studying as well as business tools that utilize digital methods in research-based classroom instruction and business practice in a targeted manner.
The series was kicked off with the 2015 HHL Forum in November last year. The conference examined how dynamic change can be shaped by using new instruments of leadership and opening up innovation management more and more. Among the experts and decision-makers from the economy, science and politics whom HHL welcomed for a personal exchange of views were Deutsche Bahn CEO, Dr. Rüdiger Grube; Chairman of the Innovation Council of the German Federal Government, Prof. Dietmar Harhoff, Ph.D.; Saxon State Minister for Science and the Arts, Dr. Eva-Maria Stange; Postbank CEO, Frank Strauß; 3M Deutschland CEO, Dr. Jörg Dederichs; MDR Director, Prof. Dr. Karola Wille; President of TU Dresden, Prof. Dr. Müller-Steinhagen; and Harvard professor, innovation expert as well as new honorary doctor of HHL, Prof. Stefan Thomke, Ph.D.
With the tailwind of numerous events on digital transformation in 2016 to push it forward, HHL is constantly working on the development of a new Leipzig Leadership Model. The new model will be presented during the HHL Forum on December 6/7, 2016.

On April 22 and 23, 2016, the Accelerate@HHL student initiative will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, companies with approximately 250 students from all over Europe. The topic of this year’s conference is “Internet of Things – The Smart Thing About Smart Things”. The participants will exchange views and discuss ideas covering the concepts of the smart car, smart home and Industry 4.0. In addition to technological and economic opportunities, the next Accelerate Conference will also focus on the ethical questions of cross-linking.
Moreover, the program includes numerous networking opportunities and a start-up pitch, which will allow the participants to present their ideas to a panel of investors and win prize money.
Hagen Fischer explains, “Our Accelerate@HHL student initiative is hard at work planning and preparing this year’s event in order to make it a great success. The new website with a new featurette, ticketing and a detailed program has already gone live. Now, we are focusing on marketing to potential participants and recruiting speakers and sponsors.”
The organization team is proud to have already enlisted a couple of high-caliber speakers for the conference. Among them are founders, CEOs, investors and researchers who deal intensively with the cross-linking of our environment.
